Westerham parish council employed CES to provide a design to illuminate the public footpath from the church down to the lower village.
The upper pathway level is lit via bouncing light off the west facade of the tower which also provides an extra feature of the west wall being lit.
Low energy decor bulkheads were installed to the church extension along the path, the decor bulkheads were fitted with eyelids to control the direction of light on to the pathway.
Period columns and lanterns were installed to blend in with the character of the church and surrounding area. Lamp source being low energy, the lamps were flush in to the hood to eliminate glare, frosted lenses were installed to provide an even spread of illumination. Black out panels were placed at the back of the lantern to cut out light on to neighbouring buildings. The lanterns provide a nice soft light over the pathway with no unnecessary spillage on to neighbouring buildings.
The scheme was highly commended by Local Authority, Rochester DAC and Westerham Council.
Total wattage per lantern = 36watts, total wattage of pathway lighting 370watts.
